Some meals include tryptophan, a naturally occurring amino acid that promotes sleep. Tryptophan-containing snacks may also help you sleep. Tryptophan is found in bananas, fish, and turkeys. Avoid taking tryptophan supplements during pregnancy because they are unsafe.
